2019 claims freeze is over

January 21, 2019

The 2019 benefits claims freeze is over and plan members can once again submit claims online and use their drug card for prescriptions.

Claims are being processed now that the annual measure period is complete

Each year during the first two weeks of January, 3sHealth conducts what is known as an annual measure to determine who in Saskatchewan health care is and is not eligible for employee benefits.

An employee must work 780 hours in the preceding calendar year – in this case, 2018 – in order to qualify for benefits.

This year, over 16,400 part-time and casual health-care employees were measured and either gained, lost, or maintained their benefit coverage.

Getting back to standard processing times

Great-West Life is now working diligently to get the backlog of 2019 claims paid. Their goal is to get back to their standard claims processing time by February 15. Their standard processing time is five calendar days.

If you have any questions about your eligibility or the benefits available to you in the extended health care or dental plans, please contact a 3sHealth Benefit Services Officer by telephone 1.866.278.2301 or by email ebp@3shealth.ca.
